Explore the J.J. "Jake" Jackson Museum in Weaverville, California

Weaverville's rich history is brought to life at the Jake Jackson Memorial Museum, operated by the Trinity County Historical Society. Discover the methods used to mine gold, ranging from simple pans to powerful monitors, used to wash away hillsides, and stamp mills used to crush gold ore. The spacious museum grounds include a history park, where you can explore a ditchtenders cabin, blacksmith, tinshop and stamp mill. Each year, blacksmiths from around the country gather to share skills at the Hammer-In.

The newly expanded Carriage Barn houses the collection of wagons and buggies. A restoration and wheelwright shop facilitates on-going projects, such as the rebuilding of the Denny Sawmill.

Visit the main museum, with rotating exhibits describing Trinity County's past. The "Threads of History" Project preserves and displays over 1,300 textile items, including garments, quilts, flags and fraternal order banners. Researchers and genealogists will appreciate the History Center, with its wealth of documents, photographs and publications. And don't forget the Gift Shop!
